Most of your time will be spent on the bridge, which is exactly as fancy as you’d expect it to be — it looks a little like this. (The chairs are super comfortable!) Your brand new artificial intelligence — which, if you investigate, you’ll find is housed in a small computer chip — has been implanted into the computer terminal on the back wall. The diagnostics readout displayed along the bottom of the screen tells you that the AI has only been outfitted with the most basic of Stability Cores, and is currently Critically Unstable.

It is the year 5256, and humanity has spread across two galaxies. Technological leaps have been massive — super powerful, prohibitively expensive AI have recently been developed, with the capacity for beyond human-like growth, development, and learning. It’s said that a single AI could be capable of managing a fully outfitted fleet of galactic class star ships. Trials are looking positive.

A small number of ships — yours included — have been selected to take part in a competitive military research project. You lucky devils! The government has given you a brand new AI of your very own, complete with a basic Stability Core and a generous grant of 1000 credits. The only downside is that … well, one SC of that calibre might not be enough to sustain the AI for long.

Roxy shall put together a fisher program to go out on the INTERWEBS, whatever they may be called here, to search for diplomatic/noble merc jobs that need doing for money.

They shall buy a High Quality Core from the black market, with Roxy being the tech genius she is and Epsilon being actual AI to judge the quality of any core they're buying.

You purchase a high quality core from the black market! It’s fine, right? Yeah, this one is fine. … … unfortunately, two hours after it’s integrated with your AI’s system, the whole thing crashes. It takes forever to reboot. When it does, you find that while the core is legitimate … it’s of low quality, and really hasn’t done much to stabilise anything.

Hunting through the Galactic Net for merc jobs turns up plenty of results! The planetary system of Noblessee requires a courier to ship medicine to one of the edge colonies, and will pay you 500 credits if you take the job.

Roxy and the newly dubbed Xi shall hack ALL THE THINGS with hacker expertise/plus AI to dig up all the information on ethically questionable AI experiments and then proceed to give the data to ALL THE NEWS OUTLETS plus whatever proof they can dig up. Such is the way of the info monger trying to destroy things.

They will also use the ships lazer cannon to destroy the more corrupt funding sources for the labs, preferably when said buildings aren't occupied by people. Along with a threat to follow that more will be destroyed if the AI aren't released to more humane people.
