[You exit the parlor through a doorway in your team's color and find yourself in some kind of entry hall. Aside from the one behind you, there are four doors - one on each of the side walls, and two opposite the entrance - each with an image carved into it. They're a bit hard to make out, however, since only one torch on the far wall is lit, lending the place a gloomy atmosphere. What you can see is that the room, once richly decorated, is now a mess; the walls are covered in peeling, royal purple wallpaper, and great swaths of the ceiling are coated with sticky cobwebs. The floor is covered with large marble tiles, inlaid with some kind of swirling design in glittering gold - but sadly, it too is out of shape. The tiles seem to shift a bit under your weight, and some of them are even missing altogether.

If you try the doors you'll find that all of them are locked, and no amount of manhandling can get them to budge.]

[OOC: This game is a treasure hunt/dungeon crawl! Your characters will be exploring the rooms they pass through and facing different challenges in each one. Some rooms will be exploratory, others will have specific rules! The goal is just to reach the end. Teams will be scored on things like teamwork, cleverness, creativity, etc.

Skills are ON, but there will be penalties if you mess up Knut's castle. He lives here, you know!]

ROOM 1 - FOUR DOORS

There's a key somewhere, ain't there?

Yeah... We could grab the torch and check out whatever's carved in the doors? Like, what if it's "Beware, everything is filled with spiders"?

ROOM 2

[soulping]

[You move through the doorway to discover the first room: a large open space with a high ceiling. Directly in front of you is a deep trench, with a narrow board being the only apparent way across. At the other end, a rope dangles, leading up to a series of platforms. It's a little hard to tell from here, but this room looks...kind of like a simple obstacle course? Huh.

Well, better get started, I guess. Watch your step!]

... Can you even fly yet?

No!!

[ DON'T TALK ABOUT IT, HE'S SENSITIVE. ]

ROOM 3

[soulping]

[You make your way through the tunnel on hands and knees, hopefully trying your best not to bump your heads or get stuck. It's slow going as you shuffle along in single file, which isn't helped by the lack of light. By the time you're halfway through it goes completely pitch dark and stays that way for several agonizing yards. But eventually it starts to lighten again and soon after you emerge, no doubt pausing to let your eyes adjust and stretch your cramped paws-

Wait, what?

You look around at yourself and your teammates and realize that at some point in the darkness, your clothes have magically changed into some kind of bizarre costume. Bizarre, but appropriate: a glance back will reveal that the tunnel you came through is a mousehole, and you now stand in a truly MASSIVE room, surrounded by immensely tall pieces of furniture. The perspective might throw you off for a minute, but it appears to be a fairly ordinary looking living room...seen from the scale of a rat. Have you shrunk or has the building grown? There's no way of knowing.

On the plus side: you all look adorable.

At the moment, you're standing between an immense couch and a gigantic end table. Across the room, distantly, is a door...a non-rat-sized door. How will you proceed?]

More climbing? Seriously, let's just burn all the furniture down, okay?

Fire ain't the solution!

[ shoving down the hood though. ]

ROOM 4

[soulping]

[Success! You stride confidently through the doorway, which mysteriously changes back to a proper size as you pass through (your precious little rat costumes also changing back to regular clothes in a blink) only to be immediately halted again. You're standing in what might have once been a ballroom or fancy dining hall, but after about six feet the floor of the room abruptly ends, having fallen away completely. Looking down, the hole goes down at least three floors before fading into darkness. There is nothing but a yawning chasm between you and the other side of the room. And of course, where else would the exit be? Yep, waaay over there.

To your left and right are the remains of a set of short staircases, leading to a crumbled balcony above the main area. Above, an extravagant chandelier hangs from the ceiling, which - thank goodness - looks much more solid and intact than the floor.

[As he passes through the doorway, Mira's paperweight instantly shrinks along with the door, returning to its proper proportions and is now able to be put into a pocket.]

So like, climb staircases, get on the balcony, swing across on the big lighty thing on the top?

What, no fire?

[ pocketing that paperweight. ]

ROOM 5

[soulping]

You made it safely across the gap! Wow, that was really dangerous. Hopefully this next room will allow you a moment to breathe. It's a kitchen of some sort and it certainly looks normal enough as you enter, although it's completely barren aside from a large bowl of apples on a counter near the door. There's a simple wooden door on the wall opposite the entrance and no barriers stopping you from reaching it.

No obvious barriers, anyway. As soon as the first person through puts their foot down on the tile floor, there's a loud click and the tiles directly around you immediately light up in the following pattern:


(The bolded square at the bottom is the entrance. The one at the top is the exit.)

Nothing else happens, but perhaps you should be cautious as you proceed...

[ooc: when you move, please note which square you've moved to and what path you take! ie: I move two squares to the left stepping on all of them, I move to B6 diagonally, I jump three squares over, etc]

ROOM 6 - THE DUNGEONS

[No doubt there is a surge of pride among the group as the traps deactivate. You turn to the exit door, which creaks and swings open, inviting you to move on. You accept the offer!

Or, you would have. If the floor hadn't just opened underneath you.

HAVE FUN PLUMMETING SEVERAL STORIES. Don't worry though; there are a number of giant spiderwebs that intermittently break your fall as you tumble down, finally landing with an unpleasant but completely non-harmful thump. So now you've probably had a heart attack and you're all covered in gross sticky spiderwebs. Are we having fun yet???

The place you land in is a completely empty, square room made of grey stone that's slightly damp and covered in mildew and dust. It looks like a dungeon of some sort, which makes sense considering how far you fell. But there's no door or other obvious exit- the room is bare and the walls are smooth. Hmm...]

[HE MAD. HE SO MAD. Clawing off the sticky spiderwebs and having a minor hissy fit.]

ROOM 7

[You wade out through the broken wall into a half-flooded room. There's a platform above the water level you can climb up onto if you'd like to take a look around.

The room is still obviously a dungeon, dark and dirty, but there's something rather out of place- on the opposite wall is a door, half submerged, and surrounding it on the wall is a curious mosaic. It's a little hard to tell because it's partly underwater now, but it might be-

Oh who are we kidding, it's OBVIOUSLY a puzzle. I know you love those.]

Think we can pick the lock again?

ROOM 8

[soulping]

[You head through a short tunnel and emerge on- the banks of a river? To be more accurate, it's an underground canal with stone platforms on either side. A boat is tied up near you, and the door is on the other side. Easy peasy, right?

Well, no. As you enter three other figures are moving toward the boat- translucent, wispy, white humanoid shapes that turn to you with hazy faces.]

Oh, hello. I didn't know we had company.

[wingtamed]

[ well he's--got lepus on his back and is holding lupus to his chest and they're both pretty exhausted, so. ]

So. Are we gonna have t' fight for the boat? 'cause lemme tell you, I ain't up for that.

ROOM 9

[soulping]

[After verbally bitchslapping the NPCs, you move into the FINAL CHAMBER.

It's a round stone room with a pit sunk in the middle. Unless you can fly or crawl on walls, there's pretty much no special way around- you just walk straight through the middle. Directly across, you can see the last door, gilded and pretty and waiting for you!

And in the center of the pit, precisely positioned between you and it, is a hulking, growling chimera.]
